Your Questions, Answered

What is the MIDI Developmental Soother™?

The MIDI Developmental Soother™ is a neonatal developmental support device (pacifier) designed to promote positive oral experiences during gavage feedings. It is used as part of the Milk Drop Intervention (MIDI) to support feeding readiness, oral stimulation, and neurodevelopment in premature and medically fragile infants.

What is the MIDI Developmental Adaptor™?

The MIDI Developmental Adaptor™ is designed to deliver precise, controlled milk drops during developmental feeding experiences. It can attach directly to an ENFit syringe or connect the syringe to the MIDI Developmental Soother™ for integrated milk drop delivery.

How does the adaptor work?

The adaptor is engineered to create consistent, controlled milk drops for gentle oral stimulation. It allows clinicians and caregivers to deliver micro-doses of milk directly to the infant’s lips or through the developmental soother during gavage feedings.

What is the Milk Drop Intervention (MIDI)?

The Milk Drop Intervention is an evidence-based developmental feeding approach that introduces tiny drops of colostrum or breast milk during tube feedings to encourage positive oral experiences, support feeding readiness, and reduce oral aversion in preterm infants.

What is the MIDI Pilot Study?

The MIDI Pilot Study is an implementation and evaluation program designed for NICUs interested in integrating the Milk Drop Intervention into clinical practice while contributing to ongoing developmental care research and innovation.

Why participate in the pilot study?

Pilot participants receive:

✔️Early access to implementation resources

✔️Training and onboarding support

✔️Guidance for workflow integration

✔️Opportunities to contribute to evidence-based neonatal care advancements

✔️Collaboration with other neonatal professionals and institutions
